ORATORICAL

The purpose of The American Legion’s National High School Oratorical Contest is to develop a deeper knowledge and appreciation of the Constitution of the United States on the part of high school students. Other objectives of the contest include the development of leadership qualities, the ability to think and speak clearly and intelligently, and the preparation for acceptance of the duties and responsibilities, the rights and privileges of American citizenship.

The State of Hawaii contest will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Sacred Hearts Academy Auditorium, 3253 Waialae Avenue, Honolulu, Hawaii starting at 8:30 a.m.  Finalist in the Hawaii oratorical contest  will receive deals and cash awards.  The winner will represent Hawaii at the National Semi-Finals and Finals which will be held from ________, 2009 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The Quarter-Final and Semi-Final Contests will be held on _____day, _______, 2009.  Banquet for all contestants to follow.  The following websites will help your participants obtain information on the "Constitution of the United States and Amendments":
