Children and Youth: Purpose: Shall be charged with aid and service to children of veterans, cooperating with other established agencies in the community, laboring for the betterment of child conditions and coordinating service and agencies in the community for the above mentioned purposes. To act as intermediary for the needy child of a veteran in obtaining the fulfillment of The Legions Pledge that “no child of a war veteran shall be in need of the necessities of life and a square deal for every child” .

Constitution and By-Laws Committee: The Committee shall advise the Department and the Posts on all legal matters, including the construction and interpretation of the constitution and by-laws. The committee shall perform such other duties as are usually incidental to the committee.

Legislative Committee: The purpose of the committee is to promote public support of The Legion programs through publicity objectives of the American Legion by a study of American Legion Legislative proposals, information to the membership there on, direct communications with members of the Congress and State Legislature as requested by the National Legislative Commission or Department officials. The Committee needs to have a knowledge of what’s going on in Congress – what we favor or oppose and should be ready to initiate action in support of our position when requested by National or Department.

Publicity and Public Relation Committee: To promote public awareness and support of the Legion’s programs and presence in the community through publicity on Department and Posts activities using local media such as newspaper, radio, TV, cable TV, and neighborhood newsletters sponsoring and/or participating in community events, conducting a speaker’s bureau, advising and assisting the Post Commanders and program committee chairman in the planning of such activities for optimum public exposure and media interest and keeping membership informed of Legion programs and policies
